First batch of home grown blueberries
For a yummy summer treat,
Blueberry Slump
Mix 1 pint washed, stemmed blueberries with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup boiling water,
slide into a large frying pan and cook until the berries soften and start releasing their
juices.  When they do, add these dumplings:
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour with 1 l/2 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt.
Work in with your fingers, 1 1/2 Tbs. sweet butter.  Now add enough milk to make a
soft dough-about 1/4-1/2 cup.  Turn out on a floured board and knead for 2 minutes.  The dough will be springy.
Pat it down to 1/4” thickness, slice into small squares and toss on top of the bubbling blueberries.
Cover the frying pan and cook, slowly for about 20 minutes.
Serve hot.  Whipped cream optional.
Yum!  Serves 4
